Class Title:  Capturing Flowers and Still Lifes

Description: Painting flowers, still lifes and the emphasis on light and the way watercolor moves to capture the essence of the flower or still life is the focus of this 3 day workshop. David will demonstrate useful wet-wash and edge control techniques to simulate different textures and light and demonstrate how to capture the light on a flower or still life. He will also bring photos for you to use to practice these techniques to gain the skill you can use later, tools you can integrate into your own personal style.

Pre work will be mailed to you prior to the workshop.

Cost: $325.  Class size is limited to minimum of 10, maximum of 13, and is geared to intermediate to advanced level students as well as professionals.

Location: Wilcox Gallery Workshop, Jackson, WY

Class Title: So You Want to Paint Water! Waterscapes and Landscapes

Description: This 5 day class will offer you the opportunity to paint plain air (weather permitting), photograph with David and also paint in the studio. David will center this class on landscapes and waterscapes and it is designed to increase your understanding about why watercolor behaves in the ways that it does. David will demonstrate useful wet-wash and edge control techniques to simulate different textures and light conditions in landscapes and waterscapes. You will have opportunities to practice these techniques to gain skills that you can use later – tools you can integrate into your own personal style. David will bring photos for you to use to paint, and you may bring some of your own that you can use as well. Pre work will be mailed to the class prior to the workshop.

Location: Creative Art Center at Cedarhurst, Mt Vernon, IL

Class Title: David’s Watercolor Wash Techniques

Description: Painting Flowers and a small landscape will be the focus of this class, using David’s wet wash and puddle technique that he has used and perfected over the years. Students will have hands on class time with David and also observe the wet-wash and edge control techniques through his demonstrations. He brings years of experience and a joy of teaching to his classes and prefers small intimate class settings so that each student receives a lot of individual attention. He will furnish photos of the work used for the demonstrations and any still life items used.
