Class Title: So You Want to Paint Water! Waterscapes and Landscapes

Description: An in depth 5 day studio class centered on landscapes and waterscapes of the southwest. There will be approximately three-four demonstration paintings over the 5 day period and intense practice of the techniques David uses to achieve his realistic style of water and the rocky landscapes of the southwest. Weather permitting their may be one plain air paint day. The class is designed to increase your understanding of why watercolor behaves the way that it does. David will demonstrate useful edge control and wet-wash techniques to simulate different textures and light conditions in landscapes and waterscapes.

You will have opportunities to practice these techniques to gain skills that you can use later – tools that you can integrate into your own personal style. David will bring reference photos for the class and if you feel like bringing some of your own photos, please do so. All class work will be done from David’s photos. Pre work will be mailed to all students prior to the workshop.
